John went into the Army during Viet Nam and became a Green Beret. While helping a wounded soldier into an evac helicopter he was shot in the leg and subsequently sent to Germany for surgery and then discharged home.  He worked for many years until his leg began to bother him and he could no longer work. When he  went to the VA to seek medical care, they evaluated him thoroughly and decided his leg problems were due to his war wounds and that he was 100% disabled as a result.  He lived in Redding, CA
