Mike Ullon

Michael Warren Ullon
JULY 27, 1945 – NOVEMBER 6, 2021

Michael Warren Ullon, age 76, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021. Michael was born July 27, 1945 in Orange , California.

Michael was a beloved father and grandfather. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he had a deep love for the ocean, surfing, skiing, riding motorcycles, music, Mexican food and the Raiders.

He grew up in southern California where he spent time surfing the many spots from Laguna to Huntington, and aboard his father’s commercial fishing boat where he learned about sailing and the sea. He served in the Navy during Vietnam which took him to places such as Hawaii, Japan, China, Taiwan and the Philippines.

He lived in Sun Valley, Idaho for a time where he had a small cabin in the community of Triumph, and skied the slopes of Bald Mountain in the winter. Eventually he wound up in Las Vegas, NV where his two children, Jonathan and Hailey were born. In 1989, after struggles with alcohol, he got sober and became an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous, helping many other alcoholics in the ensuing years. At the time of his passing he was thirty two years sober.

Michael was a fun loving man with a great sense of humor and a compassionate heart. He was loved and respected by many, many people and will be missed greatly by all those he left behind and who knew him.

Crossing The Bar

Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark;

For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crossed the bar.
