Mr. Beaton was my favorite and most memorable teacher. I still disect words to determine their meaning and often they are based on Latin. Each one of us had a Latin name and mine was Sharona. I’m sure his class allowed me to score high on my verbal SAT because my math score was horrible. I remember the convertible cruising Balboa Blvd. and the envious guys imagining the exploits of the swinging bachelor. Wonderful he found a late in life love and had a beautiful home. A life well lived which influenced generations of students.
